9th Ocean Innovators Platform – Hong Kong Edition

#OceanInnovatorsPlatform

On October 22nd, 2025, over 100 passionate leaders, investors, and innovators came together at the 9th Ocean Innovators Platform at the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club – set against the iconic backdrop of Victoria Harbour.

It was an incredible day filled with energy, bold ideas, and meaningful dialogue on driving the sustainable blue economy forward across Asia Pacific and beyond.

Co-hosted by Fondation Prince Albert II de Monaco and Sustainable Finance Initiative, with the support of our partners Hong Kong Academy for Wealth Legacy, AVPN, and Builders Vision, the event spotlighted transformative solutions for ocean sustainability and innovation.

As Olivier Wenden, Vice-Chairman and CEO of Fondation Prince Albert II de Monaco, shared: “There are three key lessons we continue to carry forward.
First, metrics matter – we cannot protect what we don’t value, and we cannot value what we don’t measure.
Second, blended capital works – when philanthropy and the private sector come together, we accelerate the transition.
And third, regional ecosystems help scale solutions.
By engaging local stakeholders, we build both the credibility and legitimacy of investable solutions.”

“With 4.2% of its GDP tied to the maritime industry, and home to 25% of China’s marine biodiversity, Hong Kong is uniquely positioned to be Asia Pacific’s leading hub for Blue Economy solutions.” – said Katy Yung, CEO of Sustainable Finance Initiative. – « This is a defining moment for strategic collaboration. Hong Kong has a key role to play in driving blended finance, and mobilising capital to integrate economic development with marine conservation, climate resilience, and sustainable ocean use. At SFi, we’re answering the call by acting as a regional bridge for investors seeking credible pathways to scale ocean impact.”

As we reflect on the powerful conversations and collaborations, one thing is clear – we need to take action and invest in solutions to protect our oceans.

Let’s keep diving deeper, and chart the next frontier of the blue economy together – not just for Hong Kong, but for the wider region and the globe.

Seal Greece: A mission to protect the Mediterranean monk seal

As the Mediterranean monk seal (Monachus monachus) begins to slowly recover, new challenges are emerging. Increased interactions with humans—especially in tourism hotspots—are putting these rare marine mammals and their habitats at growing risk. Greece, home to a significant portion of the remaining monk seal population, has designated nearly 20% of its territorial waters as protected areas. Yet, many of these sites—particularly those within the Natura 2000 network—still lack the management plans and enforcement mechanisms needed to ensure effective protection.

SEAL GREECE is a national initiative co-developed and led by NECCA, the Greek National Natural Environment and Climate Change Agency and the Monk Seal Alliance, a donor coalition dedicated to protecting this emblematic species. The project was co-designed by these two partners to strengthen the protection of monk seal habitats through a strategic, coordinated effort that complements existing initiatives such as LIFE IP 4Natura and others.

Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation @IucnOrg World Conservation Congress

#IUCNcongress
At the @IucnOrg World Conservation Congress in Abu Dhabi, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation co-organized a session on how bold alliances and innovative funding can drive large-scale conservation in the Mediterranean.

Home to over 500 million people, this biodiversity hotspot is warming twice as fast as the global average — yet remains critically underfunded.
Protecting it means joining forces, bridging sectors, and investing for the long term.

“The Mediterranean is a microcosm of the world… where cooperation, innovation and trust can turn ambition into reality.” — Marco Lambertini

Through the discussions, the Foundation highlighted key initiatives — DIMFE, the Monk Seal Alliance, the Human-Wildlife Initiative, and the MedFund — showing that collective action works.

Seal Greece Campaign

Protecting marine life starts with how we move through their world.

Mediterranean monk seals are one of the most endangered marine mammals on Earth. With fewer than 1,000 remaining, they depend on quiet, undisturbed spaces to survive.

Through the national #SealGreece initiative, the Monk Seal Alliance and NECCA are promoting safe, sustainable tourism in sensitive coastal areas—helping protect wildlife while keeping Greece’s seas open for generations to come.

« On n’est pas toutes des Cendrillons » une création monégasque sur la scène d’Anthéa

Présentée sur la scène du théâtre Anthéa à Antibes, cette création monégasque bouscule les codes de la danse classique. La chorégraphe Eugénie Andri explore un langage corporel singulier où pointes et talons hauts se répondent, jouant avec un équilibre volontairement précaire. _______________ MONACO INFO LE PODCAST : https://podcast.ausha.co/monaco-info-le-podcast Site : https://www.monacoinfo.com https://facebook.com/MonacoInfo https://instagram.com/monaco_info X : https://www.x.com/monaco__info _______________
