Dans un message délivré ce matin à l’occasion de la Monaco Blue Initiative, Mr John Kerry, Envoyé spécial des Etats-Unis pour le Climat, a rappelé que «Nous ne pouvons pas vaincre la crise climat sans intégrer l’Océan et son importance. L’Océan est source de solutions durables pour le climat. Imaginez le nombre d’emploi que ce défi auquel nous faisons face créera. En réalité, nous sommes potentiellement face à la plus grande transformation économique que le monde ait connue depuis la révolution industrielle. »

In a message delivered this morning on the occasion of the Monaco Blue Initiative, Mr John Kerry, Special Presidential Envoy for Climate U.S.A., reminded us that « We cannot fight the climate crisis without the power of Ocean. The Ocean is a source of sustainable climate solutions. Just think of the jobs this work will create. The fact is that we are looking at the possibilities of the greatest economic transformation the world has seen since the industrial revolution. »

?? S.A.S. le Prince Albert II de Monaco ouvrait officiellement, ce matin, la 12e édition de la Monaco Blue Initiative, organisée par Sa Fondation et l’Institut océanographique de Monaco. Dans son allocution le Souverain a rappelé « qu’il est important de construire un dialogue entre les différents acteurs concernés (…) et de faire comprendre la manière dont les différents enjeux et les différentes échéances se répondent et se nourrissent.  » et ce afin de mieux articuler les différents niveaux d’actions. « Nous avons beaucoup à apprendre des expériences de chacun, beaucoup à comprendre, et beaucoup à inventer ensemble » a souligné le Prince Souverain.

?? This morning, H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco officially opened the 12th edition of the Monaco Blue Initiative, organised by His Foundation and the Oceanographic Institute of Monaco. In his speech, the Sovereign recalled that « it is important to create dialogue between the various stakeholders concerned (…) and to increase our understanding of the way in which these various issues and various events are intertwined and bolster each other. » in order to coordinate the various levels of action more effectively. The Sovereign Prince highlighted that « we have a great deal to learn from everybody’s experiences, a great deal to understand and a great deal to develop together. »

A l’occasion du World Ocean Summit organisé par @The Economist Group’s @World Ocean Initiative, S.A.S. le Prince Albert II de Monaco a évoqué ce mercredi 3 mars dans Son keynote speech les grands défis océaniques actuels. Le Souverain a plus particulièrement abordé le besoin d’une gestion efficiente des aires marines protégées, les espoirs suscités par les négociations sur la biodiversité marine dans les zones situées au-delà des juridictions nationales et les opportunités liées à l’océan en matière de transition énergétique. Enfin, le Souverain a souhaité rappeler ce message essentiel alors que nous pensons l’Océan éloigné de nos quotidiens: « Parler de l’Océan c’est parler de notre vie d’humains ici et maintenant. » C’est en effet aborder des sujets aussi vastes et complexes que la santé, l’énergie, la nutrition, l’économie, l’innovation, le commerce, ou la sécurité internationale.

Prince Albert II of Monaco mentioned current major ocean challenges in his keynote speech. The Sovereign addressed, more specifically, the need for efficient management of marine protected areas, but also the hopes raised by negotiations on marine biodiversity in areas beyond national jurisdiction and the opportunities linked to the ocean in terms of energy transition. The Sovereign also reminded us of this essential message while we think of the Ocean far removed from our daily lives: « To speak of the Ocean is to speak of our human life here and now. » It means tackling subjects as vast and complex as health, energy, nutrition, the economy, innovation, trade and international security.

H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco spoke yesterday at a high-level event organised by the UNESCO Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission: « A Brave New Ocean », organised as part of the #OceanDecade. The Sovereign spoke of the threats to marine ecosystems, recalling the essential role played by the Ocean and the vital importance of preserving them. The #environment, the #climate and the preservation of #biodiversity have become major concerns at a global scale, and the Ocean is at the heart of these issues. The United Nations Decade for ocean science and #sustainabledevelopment comes at a key moment when we need to reinvent a healthier and more nature-friendly world.
