Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation and Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation Announce the 2026 “Together for the Pelagos Crossing” a
Monaco-led endurance swim across the Pelagos Sanctuary to support drowning prevention, swimming education, and marine conservation.

The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation today announced the launch of the “Together for the Pelagos Crossing,” a landmark open-water endurance swim connecting Italy and Monaco through the protected waters of the Pelagos Sanctuary for Mediterranean Marine Mammals.

The initiative brings together sport, philanthropy, and environmental responsibility in a shared mission to raise international awareness and funding for drowning prevention, swimming education, and Mediterranean marine conservation.

The June 2026 crossing will take place within the Pelagos Sanctuary, an internationally protected marine area spanning 87,500 km² and jointly managed by France, Monaco, and Italy. Established to protect whales, dolphins, and fragile marine ecosystems, the sanctuary represents one of the Mediterranean’s most important symbols of sustainable ocean stewardship.

By crossing these waters, the Foundations aim to highlight both the human impact of drowning worldwide and the urgent need to preserve marine ecosystems for future generations.

As we look back on 2025, we are proud of the progress made and the impact created together.

The start of the race “The Crossing: Calvi-Monaco” took place on Friday September 6th, 2024, from the Quai d’Honneur of the Calvi port in presence of T.S.H. Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco, as well as in presence of local authorities.

Five teams took on the challenge to reach Monaco from Calvi by water bike, with the aim of raising awareness of the different programs run by the Foundation. The 4 members of each team took turns in relay throughout the race.

The arrival of the “The Crossing Calvi- Monaco Water Bike Challenge” concluded on Saturday, September 7, 2024, around 9:30 AM on Larvotto Beach in Monaco.

Team Lionheart won this edition of the Crossing: Calvi- Monaco, crossing the finish line at 9:08 AM, followed by Team Rock to Rock at 9:12 AM, Team Serenity at 9:15 AM, Team Ferrari at 9:20 AM, and Team U17 at 9:36 AM.

After more than 22 hours of effort, the teams were welcomed by T.S.H. Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco at the Rose des Vents.

The Foundation warmly thanks and congratulates all the participants in this challenge. Your incredible performance, despite challenging weather conditions is a source of inspiration to us all. Thank you for your determination, courage, and team spirit-you have shown that nothing can stop those who believe in themselves. Congratulations!
