A Green Shift ? Jean-Yves Le Gall
In a series of short video interviews, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation is inviting personalities and scientists to open the window on post-pandemic environmental perspectives.
Jean-Yves Le Gall, Chair of the Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales – Ariane Space, underlines that « scientists, are front-row witnesses to the disasters induced by climate change due to human activities and are ready to redouble our efforts to protect humankind. (…) The space community, with its technologies and meaningful data, can only hope to inform people and decision makers. But responsibility for action lies in everyone’s hands. »

Retour en vidéo sur cette œuvre forte, véritable drame humain terrible et touchant, menée par le ténor argentin José Cura qui non seulement interprétait le rôle-titre, mais déployait ses multiples talents en signant la mise en scène, les décors et les costumes.

Dr Brad Lister, Professor of Biology at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Laureate of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Award for Biodiversity 2019, underlines that « ironically Corona virus has left us with a message of hope. In our isolation the natural world spoke to us : I’m still resilient. If you reduce your impact, I will heal. (..) if we act now, the Earth’s brief shift to green can point the way to the greatest accomplishment our species has ever attained: The salvation of our planet and ourselves. »

Dr Andres Garcia, Professor at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Estacion de Biologia, highlights that « the pandemic has to change our perception and attitude towards environmental and socio-economic problems to direct a comprehensive effort from all sectors of society to achieve sustainable development where scientific knowledge and activities in favor of environment are accessible to the public. » Media and education both have an important role to play.
